Colossalcon 2017
Imagine. All your favorite heroes and villains, from comics, anime, manga, movies and video games, all being cosplayed in bathing suit inspired versions because they are at a waterpark! Who could imagine such a thing?
This is Colossalcon 2017
Colossalcon, a 4-day Japanese animation convention held in Ohio, USA, prides itself with being the region’s kick-off to the start of summer vacation. The location at the Kalahari Resort is a unique due to its large indoor waterpark.
While Colossalcon is a Japanese anime convention, it also offers a wide variety of activities including costume contests, dances, events and discussions featuring anime industry guests, game shows, and a host of panels not only about anime, but manga, video games and all aspects of Japanese culture as well.
The Friday Night In-Character contest, is an informal event where cosplayers participate in a series of challenges in front of a large crowd. This is a great way to get your feet wet in the performance and improvisation aspect of cosplaying.
The Saturday Night Masquerade is the main event. Cosplayers compete for cash prizes in performance and craftsmanship. All cosplayers of different skill levels are welcome. You’ll have your performance and craftsmanship judged by highly skilled and experienced cosplayers.
Cosplaying attendees have access to a fully stocked repair station, where staff will help you repair any accidents that may happen to your costume. There are also workshops ranging from wig styling, attaching LEDs, and prop-making for anyone interested in improving your craft. All workshops are hands on, so get ready to learn some new skills!
