When Jessica declined to appear on the 2013 reality show Heroes of Cosplay, the Syfy network producers reportedly manufactured a rivalry between Jessica and Yaya Han to add drama and help ratings. However, Yaya and Jessica later appeared together debunking this by showing that they are friends and that the reality show is not really an accurate snapshot of cosplay culture.
In 2015, Sentai Filmworks announced that they had cast Jessica Nigri as the voice of Super Sonico for the English language version of SoniAni: Super Sonico the Animation. “I always felt a connection with Sonico. She’s just got such a positive and genuine spirit about her that when they asked me about playing the part, I squealed with joy!” Jessica commented.
