Talented cosplayer, artist and costumer Liu Misery from Slovakia, creates moving portraits of characters, and she shares a few with us here and answers some questions. You’ll find all her links and contact at the bottom.
Liu Misery is a cosplayer from Slovakia. Her nickname comes from Mortal Kombat’s Liu Kang which she used to play with her friends when she was still just a little kid. It was back then when her passion for games was sparked. She especially loved horror games like Resident Evil, Outlast and others, which led her to movies in the same genre.
Other games that influenced her include God of War, Assassin’s Creed, Crash Bandicoot, Final Fantasy series and many many more. Sometimes she streams on Twitch where you can see her play games like Overwatch or noob around in Left 4 Dead 2 and Mortal Kombat XL.
Aside from gaming, Liu loves to paint and draw which brought her to art school, where she studied scenic costume design for movies and theater. That’s when she started to create her very first costumes.
Her mother was tried to convince her to study painting, but having already painted a lot on her own, she wanted to learn something new. Sewing and creating armor turned out to be the right thing for her and brought her into the cosplay world.
Inspired by cosplayers like Kamui Cosplay, Yaya Han, Jessica Nigri and Lightning cosplay, who all turned their talent into successful careers, Liu plans to do the same and is working hard to get better and improve her skills. She enjoys learning and hopes to perfect her work by paying close attention to the finest details. We think she’s off to a good start!
Liu Misery on what is Cosplay?
“For me it is a chance to push myself beyond the limits. If there’s something you cannot do, something you think you cannot accomplish, just try to do it. You’ll realize there’s always a way. At least that’s what cosplay taught me.”
Liu Misery Quirky Qualities:
“Huh…well…there’s a looot. What everybody notices about me as one of the first things, is that when I yawn, I make this strange squeaky noise reminiscent of a fox or something like that. It sounds funny, but I can’t help it. I also have a very sarcastic sense of humor, so people often get butthurt by that. Another strange thing about me is that when I can`t sleep, I don`t sleep at all, like even for a few days. And on the other hand, when I sleep, nothing can wake me up, so if you want something from me when I’m in the “do not disturb” mode, there’s no chance to get me going.”
