The Nippombashi Street Festa 2017, aka Osaka Cosplay Street Festival, happens every year in March. The streets of Denden Town are closed to make room for one of the biggest anime-themed events in Kansai. It’s a colorful festival featuring cosplayers in elaborate costumes, robot performances, live music and so much more. This festival is a must for anybody, cosplayer or civilian, interested in seeing the ultimate in Japanese pop culture. Watch the video at the end of this post – it will transport you right to the middle of the insanity!

“It was like a live show all over the street. The kids were very happy to meet them and got to take pictures with them.”
“You walked a few steps and there were cosplayers everywhere.”
“The road looked so big without all the traffic. The sidewalk got so crowded that everybody was squeezed. Here, nobody cared about your nationality, gender, or age. Here, only those who like anime, manga and other geeky things came together. It was a mini paradise.”
