Whether it is a new hobby or something you are pursuing professionally, dressing up as your favorite super hero or villain is fun and a great way to express yourself. There are no rules for cosplay. You can cosplay anything and anyone regardless of gender, race or age. Any character and any subject is fair game.
Cosplay has grown rapidly since the 1990s and cosplay events are common features of comic cons and anime conventions. There are many groups, events and competitions at all levels of cosplay from local meet-ups to internationally recognized events.
The term “cosplay” was coined in Japan in the 1980s. More history to come…
